Clear terms for using PlantLeap

Terms of Service

Effective date: 24 October 2026

These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of PlantLeap. By creating an account or using PlantLeap, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. Nothing in these Terms removes consumer rights that cannot lawfully be waived.

1. What PlantLeap does

PlantLeap helps people explore plant-based eating through product information, barcode scanning and vegan-status evidence, ingredient reviews, recipe suggestions, swaps, grocery lists, nearby stores and restaurants, cravings, personal Path and habit tools, Community Circles, notifications and optional PlantLeap+ features. Features and geographical coverage may change, and some functions require an account, a connection, or optional device permissions.

2. Your account

You are responsible for providing accurate account information and protecting access to your account. You must not impersonate another person, attempt unauthorised access, interfere with PlantLeap, misuse its systems or use the service unlawfully. If local law requires consent or supervision for a minor to use the service, that requirement must be satisfied.

3. Food and vegan information

PlantLeap draws on packaging information, manufacturers, stores, restaurants, public and third-party databases and community contributions. A vegan or plant-based assessment may be confirmed, uncertain or under review and is not a certification unless clearly stated. Recipes, ingredients, menus, product availability and prices can change. Always check the latest product packaging and information from the responsible producer or restaurant; do not treat the absence of confirmed animal ingredients as proof that a product is vegan.

4. Allergies and food safety

PlantLeap is not an allergen-safety service. A product or dish described as vegan or plant-based is not a guarantee that it is free from allergens, cross-contact, trace ingredients or later formulation changes. Do not rely solely on PlantLeap for decisions involving allergies, intolerances, coeliac disease or other medically significant dietary restrictions.

5. Nutrition and health information

Nutrition information, protein estimates, educational content and dietary guidance in PlantLeap are provided for general informational and lifestyle purposes. PlantLeap is not a medical device and does not provide diagnosis, treatment or personalised medical or dietetic advice. Seek appropriately qualified professional advice when needed.

6. Location, camera and notifications

Some features use permissions you choose to enable: camera access for barcode scanning or selected photos; foreground location for nearby searches; notifications for requested alerts or device-scheduled habit reminders. You may deny optional permissions, although dependent features may then be unavailable. Stores or restaurants you choose can appear in recent-place history. See the Privacy Policy for further details.

7. Community contributions

If you contribute product data, pictures, ratings, recipes, corrections, sightings, swaps or Circle posts and comments, you are responsible for their accuracy, legality and permissions. You retain your rights to original material you own and grant PlantLeap a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display, format, translate on request, moderate and use it only as reasonably needed to operate, improve and provide the service. Circle posts or comments may display your username/avatar and be visible to other Circle members. Do not publish other people's private data without lawful authority. You may delete your own contributions using available controls or make a request under the Privacy Policy, subject to lawful retention of non-identifying shared catalogue data.

8. Acceptable use and moderation

Do not submit illegal, fraudulent, intentionally misleading, abusive, discriminatory, threatening, sexually explicit, invasive, infringing, spam or otherwise harmful content. Circle members can report posts and comments, mute other members and use available controls to hide content. PlantLeap may review reports, remove or restrict content and suspend accounts to protect the community, subject to applicable law. Reporting a user or post does not guarantee any particular moderation outcome. Contact privacy@plantleap.app for safety or moderation concerns.

9. PlantLeap+ subscriptions

If PlantLeap+ is offered for purchase, the actual checkout screen will disclose the available benefits, price, billing period and renewal conditions before payment. Apple App Store or Google Play handles purchases, and RevenueCat helps PlantLeap manage access and restore entitlements. Auto-renewing subscriptions continue until cancelled in the store where purchased. You can manage, cancel or seek a refund through the applicable store under its rules and any mandatory consumer rights. Removing the app or deleting your PlantLeap account does not cancel an existing store subscription. Promotional, beta or test offerings may differ from public subscriptions.

10. Third-party services

PlantLeap may present information or links from independent restaurants, retailers, food databases, maps, delivery services, authentication and subscription providers. Information about their stock, product formulations, prices, availability, menus or opening hours may be incomplete or outdated. Circle text is sent to DeepL only when translation is requested; optional product-review links can open the external ChatGPT service with a prefilled product question. Your use of external destinations is subject to their own terms and privacy practices. PlantLeap does not endorse or guarantee content from such services.

11. Intellectual property

Except for user content and third-party materials, PlantLeap and its software, designs, artwork, branding, databases, interface, graphics and original content are owned by or licensed to PlantLeap and protected by applicable law. You receive a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable right to use the service for its intended purpose.

Brand names and logos identifying third-party products or services do not imply affiliation, sponsorship or endorsement. See our Brand Names & Trademarks notice.

12. Availability and changes

We aim to keep PlantLeap available and reliable but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. Maintenance, security incidents, external data sources and third-party outages may affect the service. We may issue updates needed for security, compatibility, legal compliance or proper operation. Mandatory rights relating to digital content, digital services and required updates remain unaffected.

13. Liability

PlantLeap does not exclude or limit liability where doing so would be unlawful. To the extent permitted by law, PlantLeap is not responsible for losses caused by reasonable reliance on inaccurate or outdated third-party food, restaurant, product, price, availability or location information. Mandatory consumer protections and liability that cannot legally be limited remain unaffected.

14. Account deletion and termination

You may stop using PlantLeap and request deletion of your account through Account > Security. If you cannot sign in, use Delete account; for a narrower data request, see Delete personal data. Applicable personal data and identifiable user contributions are removed or anonymised subject to justified legal exceptions. Subscription cancellation must be completed separately through the app store. PlantLeap may restrict or suspend accounts for significant abuse, fraud, illegality or security risks, subject to applicable rights.

15. Governing law and mandatory rights

PlantLeap is currently individually operated from France. French law governs these Terms, without limiting mandatory consumer protections that apply to people residing in other jurisdictions. Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot legally be excluded.

16. Changes and contact

We may revise these Terms when the service, providers or legal obligations change and will give notice of material changes where required. PlantLeap is operated individually from France; the current publisher identity and hosting information are in our Legal Notices. For questions, privacy requests or moderation concerns contact privacy@plantleap.app. Any additional mandatory trader or consumer-mediation information must be provided if and when legally applicable.
